Entertaining Angels

Alright, alright-I know I have been horrible at keeping this blog updated...Kyle and I stay so busy that it is hard to do!  But I knew I had to share this story....
Kyle and I attend Madison Church of Christ...it is an amazing church and we couldn't ask for a better place to worship together with our wonderful family and friends.  I would say probably 95% of the time, I take notes while Phil is preaching.  My mother-in-law and sister-in-law do this and it inspired me to start so that I could go back and lookup different passages or re-read things when I need motivation.  This Sunday Phil was talking about going out and spreading God's word.  He spoke specifically about Matthew 25:31 that talks about how doing good means seeing people as Jesus does and finding a way to bless them.  He also said that God expects us to feel what Jesus felt for the needy and doing something about it.  And boy did Phil and God show me that obviously that's what I need to be doing...here's what happened...
I am stuck on a new website, Pinterest--which is another post completely :)  But I was in Michael's on Monday getting some supplies and an older man came up to me and asked if he could tell me something.  I have to admit I was a little unsure at first but said yes nonetheless.  He simply said, "Jessus loves you, he wants you to know that."  Without hesitation I said, "Yes sir, I know he does and thank you for telling me that."  "You must have Jesus in your heart."  "Yes sir I do."  We went on to discuss that my husband and I attend Madison C of C and how wonderful it is.  The man said he attended First Assembly of God in Bowling Green, KY--which made me wonder why he would be in Goodlettsville, TN telling me that Jesus loves me.  And I couldn't help but think about what we discussed in church on Sunday--spreading God's word--which is exactly what this man was doing.  He gave me a little pamphlet with different Bible verses and explained that his church was having a revival.  We kept on talking for a little while and he asked me another question, "Do you know what you can take to Heaven with you?"  "What's that?" I replied.  "Only those people that you have helped know Jesus and God's word--they are the only ones that can come with you."  His cell phone rang, he excused himself, and walked down another aisle....and he was gone...
Of course I immediately called Kyle as soon as I got to the car and told him what had happened...and he explained to me that the Bible talks a lot about entertaining angels.  (I love having such a strong, Christian husband to help me learn).
Hebrews 13:2
Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it..
Wow!  I know that I will never know if that man was one of us or an angel or both, but either way the message was heard loud and clear....and so was Phil's...I promise I am listening!  Which is why I wanted to share this story with all of you reading....and I promise to find ways to spread the word even more!!  So the next time a stranger comes up to you, take the time to listen because you never know when you may be entertaining your own angel...
Have a blessed day!

**Our Wedding Story**

It's so hard to believe that tomorrow will mark 1 month since our wedding!  It was the most perfect, beautiful, amazing day...I relive it every day in my mind and it still takes my breath away!
Now the few days before that weren't so smooth..but the end result is all that matters!  Here's how it went and I think Kyle may have been asking himself..what the heck am I getting myself into!

I worked Sunday and Monday night that week and we flew out Tuesday night...after a few hours sleep :)  Kyle's family picked us up at the airport and took us to the house that my parents had rented.  The plan for our music was that we made our own mix on Kyle's Ipod because the house had an Ipod dock and outdoor speakers--saved us a lot of money!  When we got to the house that first night of course I wanted to check it out..heart attack #1 for the week--no sound coming from Ipod dock!  We worked on it for a little while with no luck, then Kyle headed out with his family over to their condo and I headed out to the pool house for some sleep.  AND CALLED HIM AND CRIED ALREADY IN PANIC MODE!  Poor guy is all I can say..of course he said we would get it fixed but it was not a good start to the week.....in the end, the house owners had a stereo guy out the next morning and it turns out the landscapers had cut the wiring to the outdoor speakers.  PROBLEM FIXED WITHIN 24 HOURS!

Which takes us to heart attack #2 when my wedding planner called and said my purple gerber daisies came in pink, she tried to color them and they just didn't look that great.  If you know me any bit at all, you know that my favorite color is purple.  So trying to refrain from turning into bridezilla, I told her that I loved purple and needed purple flowers--regardless of what kind--just purple!  She assured me she would take care of it and upon hanging up the phone, the tears started coming and of course I called Kyle.  Again, he told me they would be fine and he would go to every florist in town to find purple flowers...and he really would have.  Our planner was great and by Thursday she was bringing me purple gerber daisies to make me feel better!

And for #3....how I am alive I have no clue!  The reason for my parents renting a house was so that we could have the reception around the pool..our guest list only totaled 20.  Part of that included clearing the pool furniture to make way for the table set-up for the reception.  We had a cookout Wednesday night with our families and afterwards had some lights to set-up around the bushes, which turned out gorgeous because we had bought orange and purple lights.  So we set up the lights then everyone asked what else needed to be done...I thought since we had rehearsal Thursday with dinner after that we might as well go ahead and move the pool stuff since we had plenty of help.  Apparently, everyone thought that it could wait til Thursday and started giving me a hard time about it...teasing I know now but at the time it lead to the most major meltdown of the week.  I just had to go in the house by myself, which led to Kyle following me inside and taking me for a walk on the beach.  He was wonderful of course in telling me I was stressing myself out, the point of a destination wedding was to not be stressed out, and everything would be perfect.  After my at least 30 minutes of crying, it was out of my system and I was good to go.  The only tears cried after that were tears of happiness!

Here's some ceremony pics..pictures stolen from all of our friends of course :)

WE'RE MARRIED!

For 28 years I thought I was as happy as I could be, that my life was as good as it could get..
And on December 30, 2009 everything I had thought was wrong--because that night I had dinner with my future wife...
I stand here today a humble, happy, blessed, and fulfilled man...
When I look back on my life when I am an old man, I will see this day as the second best day of my life...
The first will be when we start our family...
When I was born on January 28, 1982, God put my soul mate on this Earth nine months later on October 31--and for that I am thankful...
Thank you so much for everything you are and most of all thank you for loving me...
P.S.-If I would have known there was a 7 year penalty for not calling within 3 days of a date, I would have called!
Those are the words that my HUSBAND read to me during our ceremony...easy to see why I love him so much...

...STAY TUNED FOR THE WEDDING STORY...

From the Beginning

In honor of St. Patty's Day, I'm turning over a new leaf....with a new blog.  I figured living in a new (well old) place, having a new job, starting a new life, and on and on and on deserved a new blog.....so for those of you who were reading before..thanks for sticking with me!  Let's start from the beginning...

This is me...
In October I blew out 28 candles....and it was one of the best birthdays I've ever had....I moved back to Greenbrier in June after being gone for a few years-and unfortunately still have a house that I can't sell in Mississippi.  I am a Registered Nurse and take care of of kids from infants up to elementary school...and I absolutely love my job!  I have two girls that I love very much-Kami and Kasi-my weimaraners.  Right now we are living with my folks...in the house that I grew up in....and I am so glad to be back!  I have an older sister, a brother-in-law, 2 nephews, and a niece--and yes she is spoiled rotten being the only girl!  I have been a foster-mom to a wonderful now 19 year old who spread his wings and moved to Texas...he's working and going to start school in the Fall.  I love working out, teaching softball, attempting to learn golf, baking cakes, and oh yeah--spending time with this guy.....

This is Kyle....and he is THE ONE.  He has a house in White House about 10 minutes from my parents.  We went to high school together and his family still lives in Greenbrier as well.  Kyle is a project manager for Hollingsworth Oil in Springfield.  He loves loves loves golf...and is actually playing in the Nashville Amateur Golf Tour this year.  We attend Madison Church of Christ, work out together, cook together, and oh yeah--we're getting married!  In Destin, FL right here...

Kyle and I met at church when we were 16 and 17...and we went to high school together.  I tell him all the time he was in love with me back then but we just couldn't get the timing right.....We went on several dates here and there until our sophomore year of college...and then didn't see or speak for 7 years after life took us totally different directions...but thankfully, I found him on facebook December 2009.  We became friends again and the timing was finally right!  We were engaged August 1, 2010 on his parents wedding anniversary..and after 7 months of being a couple.  Our wedding is April 22, 2011 on what would've been my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary...only 5 weeks to go!

We are having a small wedding...I think our guest list totals 20....and we can't wait to be married!  Stay tuned for all of the wedding details in later posts!
